Oh to understand all that is happening on "Super Tuesday." We lived in SC for four years. It was so fun--oh the political fun. Speakers, adds, phone calls, visits from the President. Now we live in a state that has a really late primary I feel very removed from all the political stuff. I don't even know when our primary is...need to find that out. Tonight as I was watching everything unfold on CNN, Kathryn was asking me about the maps, the colors, the numbers. I feel like the more I watch, the more questions I have. I would love to just have a glimpse of understanding at how all of this worked. Super delegate? Somebody won ten super delegates? What on earth is that? I couldn't be more confused. Oh to go back to Mr. Fluegge's US History class and ask better questions. Oh the graphics...those guys must just have a ball. Maps, colors, set design, music...and we haven't even reached the super fun part with the maps where they can take off a state and then put up a new state that is either red or blue. It is the political version of Viper99000 or whatever the weathermen are using these days. We always say that it seems those weather guys must really have fun with all their tools and graphics, especially around here with all of our wacky weather. Oh the math on CNN...if I ever go back to teaching math (very unlikely), it would be so different. "When are we ever going to use this?" Watching the news. How many word problems can you make just from watching thirty seconds of primary coverage. Oh the fun!
Sorry this post should have had a disclaimer:
This is what happens when you are on Henry duty during primary season and the house has run out of chocolate!

I love watching your elections...so much more interesting than ones in Canada! Of course, if a vote fails (i.e., a government bill), the government falls and they have to call a new election...imagine if they had that in the States!
As I understand it a superdelegate is anyone who is elected to office (or has been [i.e., Bill Clinton is a superdelegate]). They don't "belong" to a state and therefore can vote however they like. Hillary has more of them pledged to her so she is seen as having the advantage...
OK...back to watching the returns!
You probably should have stopped to get chocolate on the way home last night. That is a very dangerous situation to be in. *wink*

I felt so insanely stupid last night while trying to understand everything with the "delegates." I decided to work on my mom's scrapbook instead!
i love all of the excitement around the primaries...had to pull myself away from CNN last night...but it did make me wish i had paid more attention in u.s. government. anyway, i think the IN primary is may 6...rock the vote dear friend!
May 6th? What is that, the day AFTER the convention?! It is disappointing to think Indiana's voice doesn't really count much, if at all. GO HUCKABEE!
P.S. Check out Wikipedia, it will give you good information on the nomination process.
